New photos from the mid-1970s until 2000
Former Beacon teacher Andrew Neenan, whose photos we have featured previously in our ‘Back to the 70s’ feature, has sent us a veritable treasure trove of archive images. Together, they form a fascinating time capsule of a quarter of a century of our school’s history.

Shots that reveal how some subjects were taught quite differently compared with today – and often in very gender stereotypical ways. Back then, only the girls were trusted with the ironing boards and the boys with the metalwork tools. How things have changed!
There are numerous photos of form groups across time. Do you recognise yourself?
Of course, fashion has changed. There are a lot of flares and long-flowing locks of hair. Having said that, not everything has changed. Those coats with furry hoods have recently made a fashion come back. What goes around comes around…
