Pupils are celebrating an impressive set of GCSE results and are looking forward to stepping up to Barr Beacon Sixth Form in September.
Several achieved a string of As or above, include many at the new 7, 8 and 9 grades in English and maths (equivalent to the old A*/A). 74% of pupils achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and maths.
The high achievers included Scarlett Hodgin with 4 A*s, 2 8s, 2 As, and a 7. Olivia Ann-Saxton secured herself 2 A*s, 2 8s, 4 As, and a 7. Joseph Farr earned 3 A*s, an 8, 3 As and a 7. Joseph also had one of the highest progress scores in the school, achieving an average of more than 2 grades beyond his target grades (set based on his performance at primary school).
Other successes included Purva Balu with 1 9, 4 A*s, an 8, 2 As and a 5. Mia Guy-Hickson earned 2 A*s, 3 As, 3 7s and a B. Megan Bates’ results includes 1 A*, 3 As, 2 7s, a B and a 6. Mohammed Mahmud’s hard work paid off with him receiving an 8, a 7, 5 As, a B and a 6. He also had one of the strongest progress scores, showing he has made excellent progress in his five years at Barr Beacon School.
We can’t wait to welcome back our hard-working pupils as sixth form students in September. It’s immensely satisfying to celebrate not only the pupils with the top grades but also those who have made the most progress in their time with us, and for many this success will only continue into the sixth form.
