On Monday 5th March, a group of Year 8 pupils visited The University of Oxford. They started the day with a talk at Oriel College before asking any questions they had. Following a tour of different parts of the sprawling university they sat down for lunch at one of the College dining halls. More than one pupil remarked that “it looks like Hogwarts” and indeed it did (only without the flying candles and the sorting hat).
In the afternoon they had different workshops, including one where they had to match up ancient myths. Caroline Bristow, from the classics department, took to Twitter to say she “absolutely loved speaking to Year 8 students from Barr Beacon. Great knowledge and some really good questions. Looking forward to a possible follow up visit. They made a good impression.”
